Spring – nature comes back to life
Spring is a peaceful time to discover Eastern Styria with children. Go for walks and hikes, visit the animals, let the children play outside and enjoy the first warmer days surrounded by nature.
After spending time in the fresh air, the panoramic indoor pool is a favourite place for children and parents alike. Spring is particularly suitable for families who prefer a quieter holiday outside the main summer season.
Summer – fresh air at 1,000 metres
At around 1,000 metres above sea level, Familienhotel Berger is a wonderful place to enjoy summer surrounded by forests and meadows. Our elevated location often provides more pleasant temperatures when towns and cities become hot.
Children can play outside, visit the animals, explore the Dwarf Forest, ride the pedal go-karts or cool off in the natural pond. Families can also discover walks and hiking trails throughout the surrounding Joglland region.
It is our version of the traditional Austrian “Sommerfrische” – escaping the summer heat and enjoying fresh air, nature and time together.

Winter – family skiing right next to the hotel
In winter, the Familienschiberg St. Jakob family ski area is located directly next to Familienhotel Berger. Short distances make skiing with children particularly convenient.
Families can combine skiing and snowboarding with cross-country skiing, winter walks and time in the snow. Afterwards, the panoramic indoor pool is the perfect place to warm up, swim and relax.
Plenty for children to discover
Children do not always need a tightly planned programme to have a memorable holiday. Sometimes having enough space to play, explore and make their own discoveries is just as important.
At Familienhotel Berger, our large playground, petting zoo, pedal go-karts and Dwarf Forest with a small water play area provide plenty of opportunities for outdoor fun. Visiting the goats, chickens, ponies and other animals is often one of the experiences children remember long after their holiday (March to Octobre)
During selected holiday periods, we also organise a supervised children’s and family programme with creative, active and nature-based activities. Sometimes children take part on their own, while other activities are designed for parents and children to enjoy together.
We are not a large kids’ club resort with all-day childcare. Our focus is on creating opportunities for children to have fun while families still have plenty of time to spend together.
Swimming and wellness for the whole family
Our indoor pool is a favourite meeting place for families – after a day outdoors, between activities or whenever the weather is less inviting.
For adults looking for some relaxation, there is also a small wellness area with sauna, steam bath and infrared cabin.
In summer, our natural pond provides an additional place to enjoy time by the water.

Guests staying with our half-board arrangement can start the day with a generous breakfast and enjoy dinner at the hotel in the evening. We also take individual dietary requirements into consideration where possible.
For us, mealtimes are also family time – a chance to sit down together, enjoy good food and talk about the day’s adventures.
